Hacker choice award at Yahoo! Open Hack Europe 2011
When we heard that Yahoo is hosting an world wide event for hackers in Bucharest we had to participate! So we ansambled our team and subscribed to the event in the Hardware section. We wanted to use the rich Yahoo Apis for the web part and Arduino, sensors and motors for the phisical parts.
Our project wanted to illustrate the "Internet of Things", that you can connect let's say a Farm, or your house and get data using sensors and use them in a web interface that can, or allow you to act and "give commands" to devices in that Farm/house.
The team : Viorel Spinu - Hardware (Carpentry and decoration), Andrei Dore - Programming ( Yahoo APIs and Arduino), Ionut Cotoi - Electronics, Constantin Craciun - Programming (Arduino), Alexandru Stefanica - Artwork (Painting), Mihai Ionescu - Electronics
We were kindly asked not the unleash a terminator device upon humanity in the hardware section. Damn, we go with plan B : nice little farm.
Time to work lazy programmer. Start coding! Or else
We had the plan, we had the vision, now was the time to get dirty.
Van Gogh, you are in big trouble. Get ready for a smile showdown!
Eco materials for a farm? You got it! Let's hope it never rains :)
Does your tree has lots of cables and LEDs in it? No? You lose!
Looks kinda finished ... at least we are after 24 hours with no sleep, long live coffeine!
We didn't knew if we were dreaming or our names were just called to the stage.
The yahoo team and the winners rejoice. After that we slept one full day :) Lets do it again!
